SMP Server is for administrator, PC inventory manager. Only one Server is exist in the SMP network.

2-2. Getting PC Data
Software data will be fetched automatically when a client connected to the server by default. Server will catch the software modification too. You can change the fetching option at Fetch > Software List Update Option in the menu.

You can fetch the software data manually by selecting PC in the main window, select Fetch > Software Data (Ctrl+3) in the menu.
Once the server obtained the PC's software data, the PC icon will be changed in the main window,

2-3. Getting Off-line PC Data
Off-line PC means that a PC without networking. SMP provides a way to fetch the inventory data and import it to the Server. In the Professional, registered version, SMP Spider is included in the SMP Client Setup folder - SMPspider.exe.
2-3-1. Fetching Data by SMP Spider
Move SMPspider.exe file to off-line PCs via floppy disk or portable USB memory device and run the program.
SMP Spider will fetch the all PC data and save to the defined output folder. (For a PC, data will occupy about 4 KB)
Two files will be created in the output folder. One is for hardware data, the other is for software data.
2-3-2. Importing Data to SMP Server
- Move created off-line PC data to a folder in SMP Server.
- Select Edit > Off-line PC management > Import (F2) in the menu.
- Find off-line PC data and select.
- The data will be imported.

The prefix of IP address for off-line PC is off.
Note the imported PC data occupy the Server's capacity (license) as well as on-line PC data.
2-4. Viewing PC Data
2-4-1. PC Details double-click
If you double-click PC data in the main window, you can browse all fetched hardware, software inventory data, modification details, notes.

2-4-2. Display View > Display, Ctrl+I
You can choose the data that you want to display in the main window.

You can choose data fields that you want to display in the main window.

2-5. Editing, Deleting PC Data
2-5-1. Editing Edit> Change User Information, Ctrl+U
You can change manually the Dept. and Etc. data of each PC in the Server.
Select PCs in the main window, select Edit > Change User Information (Ctrl+U) in the menu.
If you want to change the Dept. only, leave Etc field blank and vice versa.
To get environment variable data, enclose Dept. or Etc data with % character.

If there is no defined variable, Client will return "N/A" for data.
Note variable names are case-insensitive. The variable data are limited up to 20 bytes long.
Note to change off-line PC's data, select Edit > Off-line PC Management > Change User Information in the menu.
2-5-2. Deleting Edit > Delete PC Data, Del
To delete PC data from the Server database, select PCs in the main window, select Edit > Delete PC Data (Del) in the menu.
Note if you deleted the on-line PC data, the PC will be re-connected in a minute.
2-6. Controlling PC
2-6-1. Remote Control Control > Remote Control, F6
Remote Controlling enables you to control PC directly by mouse and keyboard, while seeing PC's actual screen.
Select a PC in the main window, select Control > Remote Control (F6) in the menu.
SMP's remote controlling is based on the screen transfer. So the Use low quality color for fast transfer option enables you to control faster.
Bypass user's authorization enables you to control a man less PC.
While you control a PC, if the PC's session being ended by logging off, the remote control session will be terminated. However, if the Client is installed as a service, you can re-establish the connection in 10 seconds. However, if the Client is installed as a start-up program, you cannot re-establish the connection until the user logs in to the system.
2-6-2. File Transfer Control > File Transfer, F4
File Transfer enables you to transfer files to a Client PC.
Select a PC in the main window, select Control > File Transfer (F4) in the menu.

The Destination Folder will be created automatically in the Client PC.
Defined destination folder notation: $W, $T
$W: Windows folder
$T: Temporary folder
e.g. $T represents C:\Windows\temp, or C:\WINNT\temp depending on the system.
2-6-3. Screen Capture Control > Screen Capture, Ctrl+P
Screen Capture enables you to capture the current screen of Client PC.
Select a PC in the main window, select Control > Screen Capture (Ctrl+P) in the menu.
Note Screen Capture function uses UDP protocol without error recovery not to slow down the Server, so it sometimes fails depends on the network and system status.
2-6-4. Run Control > Run, Ctrl+R
Run enables you to run a program in the Client PCs.
Select PCs in the main window, select Control > Run (Ctrl+R) in the menu.

Defined notation: $W, $T
$W: Windows folder
$T: Temporary folder
e.g. to run Notepad.exe,
Command line: $W\Notepad.exe
Working directory: $W
The result will be transferred to Control Result window.
2-6-5. Send Message Control > Send Message, Ctrl+M
Send Message enables you to send a message to Client PC users.
Select PCs in the main window, select Control > Send Message (Ctrl+M) in the menu.

Your message will be displayed in the Client PC and user can reply your message.
2-6-6. Shut Down Control > Shut Down, Ctrl+Q
Shut Down enables you to shut down or restart the Client PC.
Select a PC in the main window, select Control > Shut Down (Ctrl+Q) in the menu.

2-6-7. File Integrity Check (MD5) Control > File Integrity Check (MD5), Ctrl+5
This enables you to confirm a file's integrity of Client PC by MD5 hash algorithm.
Select a PC in the main window, select Control > File Integrity Check (MD5), Ctrl+5 in the menu.

File Path Notation:
$W : Windows Folder
$T : Temporary Folder
Hash Generator helps you to generate a MD5 hash with your local files.
Note a file's hash may different depends on the Windows version.
The result will be transferred to Control Result window:

Note the result data are temporary. If you close the window or run another check, the previous data will be deleted.
