1. Windows Vista compatibility
Now, SMP is fully compatible with Windows Vista. In addition to the compatibility, SMP's all data folder is moved to the public application data folder. This enables the SMP can be executed through all user accounts, sharing same data even if a user logs in as a guest user account.
Note:
- Service installation of Client is not supported in Vista. If you install the Client via the Silent Setup with service installation option, Setup will change the option to install as a start-up program automatically.
- From version 12.0.1, SMP does not support Windows 95, 98, NT4 anymore. SMP is compatible with the Windows Me, 2000, 2003, XP, Vista.

2. More accurate H/W, S/W inventory fetching
Client fetches more accurate H/W data and supporting multiple items correctly. We rewrote the entire fetching module and improves the accuracy through all Operating Systems. We chose more user-friendly data strings for CPU and other H/W inventory data if possible.
Note:
- Multiple items are separated by the semi-colon character
e.g. Synaptics PS/2 Port Pointing Device ; HID Compliant Mouse
Client removes duplicate S/W data if the Client detects the data that following items are all same.
- Software name
- Version
- Publisher
- Install location
- Registered customer/company
- Product ID (serial no.)
- Install date
- Estimated size
These are all applied to the Spider (off-line fetching tool in Professional edition) too.

3. Improved Client Setup
Setup includes the silent setup option by /s command line option.
Running Setup /s reads the install options from Setup.ini, installs the Client silently. If an error occurs, the log will be created at Error.log file in the same directory of the setup program. Log includes an IP address of each PC for identification.
Setup includes an automatic service install, no need to change settings via the Service Control Manager anymore. This enables an administrator distributes the Client silently, install as a service.
Note: In Vista, service installation is not supported. If you install as a service silently, setup will change the option to install as a start-up program automatically.

4. Server - Misc. improvements
- Open Data Folder, Open Report Folder menu
From version 12.0.1, all data files are moved to the public application data folder. In the SMP Server, you can access to the data folder easily by selecting Application > Open Data Folder in the menu.
You can also access to the default report folder directly by selecting Report > Open Report Folder in the menu.
- Remote Control refresh button (Professional edition only)
Remote Control Client now has a wide 'Refresh Screen' button. This enables you to refresh the screen manually, especially useful for Vista Aero PC.
- Bug fix: Creating/Editing Note
There was an error on creating/editing PC's note in the Server, an empty line added automatically. This has identified and fixed clearly.
- Changes: Screen Capture Display
Screen Capture Display was not wide enough to display latest wide screens in the previous version. So we increased the screen width.
- Changes: Console
To reduce Server's performance overload, Console user can't fetch software, H/W, S/W modification, Note data for multiple PCs simultaneously. Console accepts only one PC selection for these data transfer.

5. How to Update (for existing customers)
This is a major update and all components are required to be updated.
Submit your license information and get the latest version first.
(Please do not update with the trial version.)
SMP Server (Pro/Std):
- Close currently running SMP Server, uninstall Server
- Install new setup
SMP Console (Pro only):
- Close currently running SMP Console, uninstall Console
- Install new setup
Client (Pro/Std):
- Run uninstaller at Start > Run > SMPclientuninstall.exe <enter>
- Install new setup.
You can download the Silent Uninstaller for Client. Please make this uninstaller run on each PCs before install new Client. Check Readme.txt file for detailed instructions.
